Greens on the ruling of the Federal Constitutional Court 6. July 20236. July 2023 Yesterday night, the Federal Constitutional Court ruled that the Building Energy Act can for now not be finalized and decided upon in tomorrow’s session of the German Bundestag in 2nd and 3rd reading. Responding to this, Dennis Helmich, state chairman of BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN Saxony-Anhalt, comments: “The heating transition is the safeguard that heating will remain affordable in the future and will be climate-friendly. It is therefore regrettable that there are renewed delays in this so important legislative project of the traffic light federal government. Citizens, tradespeople and businesses expect planning predictability. We therefore need clarity before the start of the heating period. Of course, the ruling of the Constitutional Court must be respected, because opposition rights are a valuable asset in our liberal democracy. However, the ruling relates solely to the procedure. I hope that the Building Energy Act can be dealt with and passed by the Bundestag quickly after the summer break.“
