Confronting right-wing extremism with full force – strengthening the rule of law and civil society!

According to media reports based on intensive research by the Correctiv platform, right-wing extremists, including numerous AfD representatives, held a secret meeting at the end of last year to call for the mass deportation from Germany of people who, in their ethno-racist view, do not belong to the German people, and developed plans and scenarios for this. Ulrich Siegmund, co-chairman of the AfD parliamentary group in Saxony-Anhalt, was an active participant in this meeting. According to Correctiv’s research, he himself actively promoted the harassment of people with a migration background and their businesses in Saxony-Anhalt and throughout Germany in order to achieve a “change in the street scene”. This open presentation of the AfD’s own racist contempt for humanity is not new, but it is deeply repulsive every time this kind of research is carried out. As a democratic party and as part of civil society, we as Greens will always oppose these anti-constitutional efforts.

In addition, we take the following positions:

  • We support the SPD’s demands for the dismissal of Ulrich Siegmund, Chairman of the Social Affairs Committee in the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament.
  • The numerous anti-constitutional statements, objectives and actions of the party and its leading members show an open hostility to the constitution and a rejection of the free democratic basic order. The State Executive Committee therefore supports the intensive examination of a ban procedure for the AfD by the competent constitutional bodies.

Adopted at the meeting of the state executive committee of Alliance 90/The Greens Saxony-Anhalt on January 13, 2023 in Dessau-Roßlau.
